Well...no pictures today....but some really interesting stories!
My experience departing Colombia was not as easy as the whole two weeks that I was there! I was going through security...and trust me...it's really quite involved! Just when I thought the police officer was done going through my entire backpack...taking EVERYTHING out and asking me a million questions...she asked if I had problems with my heart. I responded no...and so she took me into the police station in the airport and asked me to sit and wait. Now, mind you, my flight was leaving in about 35 minutes. So I'm waiting...and waiting...and waiting...and everyone who came after me is being called in and I am not. Finally 15 minutes later they call me in and have me sign a document saying that they can xray my body for drugs. They are truly diligent about narcotraffic!!!! I made it through that, they returned my passport and then I exited the police station to the gate. Well...I was stopped there as well and told they had to search my luggage! So...I waited for a turn...and now there are about 10-15 minutes until the flight. The police officer calls me over and begins to unpack my ENTIRE bag! Everything was out on the table...underwear everywhere! She continued to ask a zillion questions...and I attempted to answer with my limited Spanish. Finally, we were done...we literally through everything back in...and I made it on to the flight with 3 minutes to spare. I've never been so happy to be in my seat on an airplaine! The gentleman sitting next to me was very kind,..spoke English...which was so comforting...and helped me to relax.
The change in Panama was easy...and then I arrived in Quito. No problems going through customs...and no one waiting for me outside of customs either! I waited about an hour and then just took a cab to the hotel! The hotel is magnificent! I was so happy to be here and to be able to just go to sleep!
Tomorrow we tour the historic city! I'm so excited!!!
