Tuesday, August 11th - Easter Island
Today I went on a morning hike to the crater! It was magnificent! I have to say...nature is humbling! I feel as if I am so fortunate to be able to stand in the midst of such an incredible history...and a natural phenomenon!!!
The Internet is a bit slow on the island...but I've posted some pics from the day! Tomorrow I hike to the highest volcano...and then visit the quarry where they made the moai and transported them around the island!

| This must be what they mean by deep blue sea! |
 |
| This is the small island that has a legend attached to it...There was a yearly competition for who would become king. The individual would have to swim from the main island to this small island, retrieve the golden egg from the sacred bird and return with it unharmed. If he completed the task...he was king! |
